Integrity & Ethical Conduct Policy

The honesty and accountability HCC owes to the operators it certifies, the markets that trust its certificates, and the consumers who rely on the Halal mark.

Purpose

A certification body trades on its word. This policy states the standard of integrity HCC holds itself to, so that the trust placed in an HCC certificate is earned and kept.

Scope

This policy binds all HCC personnel, auditors, Shariah Board members, contractors, and anyone acting on HCC's behalf, in every interaction with clients, partners, regulators, and the public.

Our commitments

We make only claims we can substantiate. HCC describes its scope, recognition, and capabilities accurately, and never overstates the reach or standing of a certificate.

We certify on evidence, not on relationships or fees. A certificate is issued because the product conforms, and for no other reason.

We keep the public record honest. The verification service reflects the true, current status of every certificate, and we correct errors promptly when they are found.

We communicate plainly. Operators are told what is required, what was assessed, and why a decision was reached, without ambiguity that could be mistaken for a wider assurance than was given.

Honest representation of recognition

HCC's credibility rests on its assessment process and its network of national Halal authorities and coordination bodies. We represent that network truthfully: reach into destination markets is achieved through our partners, and we do not claim authority, accreditation, or endorsement that we do not hold.

Marketing, certificates, and public statements are reviewed against this principle. Any claim that cannot be shown to be true is removed.

Accountability

Personnel are expected to raise integrity concerns without fear of reprisal. Reports may be made to HCC management or through the channels described in our Code of Conduct, and are handled confidentially.

Breaches of this policy are investigated and may result in corrective action up to termination of employment or engagement, and where a certificate's integrity is affected, the steps in the relevant assurance and recall policies are triggered.

Implementation, review & contact

This policy is reviewed at least annually by HCC management. It is read alongside the Code of Conduct, the Impartiality Policy, and the Conflict of Interest & Anti-Bribery Policy.

Integrity concerns and questions about this policy may be sent to HCC at info@halalcc.org.
