Privacy policy

Overview

The Halal Conformity Center (“HCC”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use halalcc.org and our certification services, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly — such as your name, company, email address, and the details of an application or enquiry — and limited technical information your browser sends automatically, such as device and usage data used to operate and improve the site.

How we use information

We use information to respond to enquiries, scope and deliver certification, maintain the public verification record for issued certificates, comply with legal obligations, and improve our services. We never sell the details you give us — your enquiry, your application, your company’s documents. The one qualification to that is the analytics and visitor-identification services described below, which receive website usage data and online identifiers; see “Cookies & analytics” and “California privacy rights”.

The public verification record

Certification is, by design, publicly verifiable. Certificate records — the scope, status, and validity of an issued certificate — are published so buyers and regulators can confirm them. We publish only the information necessary to verify a certificate, not the underlying commercial or personal details of an application.

Cookies & analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies, including browser storage. Some are strictly necessary to operate the site. The rest fall into two groups, and we describe both plainly. First, analytics — Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity — which show us which pages are useful and where the site can improve. Second, visitor identification: we use Apollo, a business-visitor service that stores an identifier in your browser, records the pages you view, and tells us which company a visit comes from, worked out from the network it arrives on. For visitors in the United States, Apollo may go further and identify you individually, by matching identifiers in your browser against commercial identity databases operated by Apollo and its partner LiveIntent — so that, if you have been researching certification, our team can follow up with you directly. We do not show advertisements and we do not use these tools to build advertising audiences.

Because we operate from the United States, all of this is on by default. You can decline from the cookie notice on your first visit, or at any time afterwards via “Cookie preferences” in the footer of every page. When you decline, visitor identification stops entirely, the identifier cookies these tools set in your browser are deleted, and analytics continues only in an anonymous, cookieless mode. We also honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal: if your browser sends it and you have not explicitly opted in, the identification tools above do not load, and analytics runs only in that same anonymous, cookieless mode. You can also control or clear cookies through your browser settings, though disabling essential cookies may affect some functionality.

Sharing

We share information with service providers who help us operate (under confidentiality obligations), with partner certification bodies where necessary to deliver recognition in a destination market, with the analytics and visitor-identification services described under “Cookies & analytics”, and where required by law. We do not share your information for unrelated marketing.

Retention & security

We retain information for as long as needed to provide our services and meet legal and accreditation-record obligations, then delete or anonymise it. We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@halalcc.org.

California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA, gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, the right to request access to or deletion of your personal information, the right to correct inaccurate personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

We do not sell personal information for money. We do use the third-party analytics and business-visitor services described under “Cookies & analytics”, and those services receive your IP address, online identifiers, the pages you view, and how you arrived — and may combine that with their own commercial databases. Under the CCPA/CPRA that can count as “sharing” or a “sale”, so we tell you plainly rather than claim an exemption. To opt out, decline analytics from the cookie notice or the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer of every page — identification stops and its identifiers are deleted, while analytics continues only in an anonymous, cookieless mode — or email info@halalcc.org and we will action it for you. We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid opt-out unless you have explicitly opted in. The same address covers every other California privacy right.
